Controversies arising

There are so many controversies arising around parenting and schools and motherhood these days. It’s hard to keep up. The whole in person versus distance learning is one that is fairly easy to talk about without pissing off too many people so I guess I could mention again how little my kids are in the classroom these days.

Our hybrid schedule has been going since two weeks before spring break. My kids go for 240 minutes on Mondays and Thursdays. The other half of the class goes 240 minutes a day on Tuesdays and Fridays. Wednesdays the kids are distance learning. I seriously don’t understand why we are still doing things this way since we are in the red and many of the counties around us are already into the orange tier.

I cannot tell you how much I’m looking forward to private school next year. Longer school days will be an adjustment but having the kids in the classroom full time again is something they need.

It also will give me a chance to go and find another job to work at. My school district made me choose between my kids and my job and basically forced my resignation when I wouldn’t go back to work while my kids were in distance learning.

I’m thinking I may go back to work for a school district, but I may end up working in another district and see if that works better for me.

I’m Patty Gordon, a 40+ year old school lunch lady married to a crane mechanic. Our days are anything but normal as he works “construction worker hours” and I take care of our two elementary school aged kids, Chihuahua Mr Biggs, Pitbull Cali, and French Bulldog MooMoo. I blogged a few years ago under different names but have landed with the 365MomMe.com name this time around. The term 365MomMe comes from the idea that I’m a mom and I’m me 365 days a year. Kids call me Mommy but I see myself as MomMe.
