The whole house doesn’t have to be clean

I learned a long time ago in my marriage that there are certain spots in the house that trigger my husband’s clean or dirty off-on switch. Meaning that the whole house doesn’t have to be clean, but if these key areas are clean he believes somehow that the rest of the house is clean.

Cleaning is not my strongest skill. I can do it, I’ve got the to do list to prove it, but I’m not naturally drawn to be a cleaner.

Do you have spots like this in the house that trigger you to think the house is dirty or clean?

For me it’s my bedroom floor. If the floor is clear of clothes and “stuff” I feel like the house is clean.

Another one is the kitchen sink. If I wake up in the morning and the sink is empty and nothing sitting in it I always feel a sense of relief. I learned that from TheFlyLady.net.

It’s funny how we trick ourselves with things like this.

What’s your clean trigger spot in the house?

This is interesting… I thought it was just me! My things are the bed (it has to be made), the bathroom and kitchen. All minus the floors 😅 I can’t find the energy to clean floors!

I just got a shark steam floor mop which is great for my floors and I love my shark vacuum for my carpet.

Almost everyone seems to think the kitchen is a big trigger. Mine gets so cluttered. Even if I don’t clean it but I declutter it I feel better.

Our town has a lot of construction and a lot of agriculture and a lot of wind. I can’t go more than a day without a covering of dust around my house!
