Fabulously Normal

This week has been fabulously normal! I’ve done the taxes, taken kids to sports, replaced the front tires on the car, and we are in the midst of preparing to return to in-person school.

Tax season sucks the life out of me. Turbo tax is great but watching that initial return get eaten up by our second and third and this year fourth and fifth incomes really hurt. At least we are getting something back which will help put the cushion back in our bank account. (PS. People are getting screwed on their unemployment income. Definitely something that seems like such a blessing on one end and a curse on the other.)

Getting back to sports has been such a blessing for both my little ones. I feel like my kids are pretty resilient beings but there is something to be said for seeing faces that don’t belong to mom and dad and siblings. I’ve noticed a more peaceful de meaner out of each of my kids sin ce they’ve started to interact outside our COVID bubble. We only should have started them back to sports earlier. There were options we totally missed out on.

Sitting inside at the tire shop while I waited for the tires to be put on was a great mini staycation from the kids. I read recently that motherhood is the equivalent of working 2.5 full time jobs. With all the littlethings I do for the kids, little things I do for hubby and chores for the house I feel exhausted at the end of the day even when the truck doesn’t even leave the driveway!.

In-person school starts back on the 22nd. I know back to school shopping is going to sneak up and bite my wallet in the butt. It’s been since 2019 since I last bulk- shopped for clothes for the kids. Social distance school did have some advantages!

While things still aren’t 100% back to the way they were this time last year there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel. I hope things are getting better where you are too!
