A year ago was opening day!

A year ago today I rebooted my blog! I can’t believe it’s been a year already. I really didn’t get super focused on writing again until later on in the year, but today I came out with my first new blog post in years!

I posted about Opening Day of baseball for my son. It’s a bitter sweet moment since COVID has done so much to ruin the first year of his baseball career and eliminated football altogether. My daughter’s softball life has been completely disrupted and all of our lives are just now crawling back out into the light of day.

I didn’t realize just how important sports were to my kids until they couldn’t play them. 5 days a week for football and a few days a week for baseball and softball may seem tough in the moment, but the almost year we spent without anything really messed both kids up.

I see that some people “never stopped” their sports and while part of me thinks that this was dangerous behavior, part of me wishes I’d been able to arrange that for my kids. They would have been so much better off with the activity both physically and socially.

Luckily though we are getting back to it and a lot of people are in the same boat as us as far as experience lost.

I’m sure many people are missing out on things that didn’t seem important in the moment, but are precious moments when they return to their daily lives.

I’m Patty Gordon, a 40+ year old school lunch lady married to a crane mechanic. Our days are anything but normal as he works “construction worker hours” and I take care of our two elementary school aged kids, Chihuahua Mr Biggs, Pitbull Cali, and French Bulldog MooMoo. I blogged a few years ago under different names but have landed with the 365MomMe.com name this time around. The term 365MomMe comes from the idea that I’m a mom and I’m me 365 days a year. Kids call me Mommy but I see myself as MomMe.
