The maximum minimum

I was listening to a podcast the other day as part of my 365 Podcasts A Year project about mindfulness and a huge topic that comes up with mindfulness is anxiety and stress and how we deal with them.

I know for sure that the state of cleanliness is something that causes me stress daily. Even with my routines set up on my to do list there are some days life just gets in the way. It’s a physical manifestation of how my mind and body are feeling. Sadly the more cluttered it gets the less motivation I have to clean it. My highest level of motivation to clean it seems to spike in the middle of the night when it’s not possible for me to be able to do it. I swear this is my minds way of clearly stating it’s overwhelmed. Clearly I know something needs to be done but I can’t seem to control getting it done.

Super bowl Sunday I spent part of my day inside cleaning. My husband seemed to think I was avoiding him. But really I was trying to jump on a burst of motivation I had to clean. He’s always bugging that I need to clean so I wanted to actually follow through and get some stuff done when the mood struck me.

Sadly the next few days were back at the maximum minimum motivation. I’m telling you think because I don’t want you to feel like you’re the only one. We’ve all been there at one point or another!

What about you?

Do you ever have days where you just do the minimum housework?

There are days I won’t even get out of my pjs! I will reuse dirty dishes and order takeout because that’s just how it is sometimes. It isn’t optimal, but we are human
