It was a fun “almost famous” time of my life.

People are not often shocked when they hear I used to a college basketball player. I’m 5’11” so it’s not that hard to imagine me on the court.

However I didn’t start off loving basketball. I was a soccer lover from a long time ago. Sadly I loved to a city where youth soccer bordered on being a professional sport so I switched sports as a freshman in high school.

I played until I was a senior. Quit. Then went into play my freshman year in college. “Play” is a loose interpretation. I scored 3 points in college. I was more proud of my ability to get through 20 hour weeks of practice for the year. I retired before my sophomore season.

Here are 3 more quirky facts you might not know about me:

  1. I dated a back-up singer for a very famous singer. It was a fun “almost famous” time of my life. Chasing a tour bus up from Illinois to Wisconsin and into Minnesota was quite the experience. Clearly I didn’t understand map geography when I found myself two states away from home after only a few hours of driving!
  2. In college I worked at a summer camp where the Disney channel filmed a tv show the summer after they filmed it. It was the best and worst experience of my life. Camp always is a strange social experiment each summer. I do have to say that a lot of my online friends now are people that I worked with (or had as campers) way back then!
  3. My friend and I once decided to go to Disneyland instead of the movies! It was a great time but nothing I’d be able to do now. I guess I’m a grown up officially because I realize just how expensive Disneyland is!!!!

What’s unique about your life? Even if it seems boring I bet you’ve been on some adventures! Tell me about them!
